Invented by French mathematician Edouard Lucas in in 1883, the Hanoi tower is a mathematical puzzle of three pegs and six discs. This wooden Pyramid Puzzle consists of six disks arranged like a tower with the smallest ring at the top and the largest ring at the bottom. The task is to transfer all the six disks from one of the three poles to another. Important Rule: The children can move only one disk at a time and a large disk can never be placed on top of a smaller one. The minimum number of moves for this puzzle ( tower of six disks) is Sixty Three. Skill Set: Improves Hand & Eye Co-ordination, Promotes Color & Shape Recognition, Develops Object Recognition, Motor Skills, and Problem Solving Skills. Shifting one disc at a time the discs need to be moved to another maintaining the same order of decreasing size. Well known to the students of computer science, it promotes understanding of recursive functions.
